Unable to install Symantec 12.1 client

I need a solution

Dear All,

Recently while trying to uninstall SEP 12.1.2015.2015 in one of my client PC, it wasnt unistalling. So i tried every possible way to unistall. One was using the iObit unistaller and deleting the residual files. After wards it got unistalled, but while trying to install again its not happening. In the SEPM it shows online, but there is not SEP is not installed in the PC. Now its not showing online in the SEPM. But to be honest i did delete some files and folders while trying to install again since it was not installing. Please tell what to be done if you know any solutions.

Snapshot Full Size on Disk vs LTO (2GB vs 100GB)

Hi,

within Backup Set´s of a Server i can see the last Backup Sets and where the data is stored.
I have some Backup 2 Disk -> Duplicate to LTO Jobs.

In the Backup Set´s i see the size of Snapshot Full to my Disk Storage, reporting a size of 2.27GB

The same size of the Duplicate Job, shows about 101GB on LTO.

I use Symantec Backup Exec 14.2 (1180) with Feature Pack 4.

Why is there any difference ?

How to ensure Catalog data consistenc​y in DR replicatio​n to start up NB on DR site?

I need a solution

We are planning on setting up NB on DR site. As PoC, at this time, we only want to be able to start NB on DR, and replicate all Database and needed files in order to start up NB server. Backups and archive data are not needed. However, the storage supports snapshot based volumes/lun replications, but doesn't have a tool to freeze up I/Os, to ensure the data consistency, only replicate whatever on the disk. Without this function,  can NB be started on DR?

Does NB has the ability to freeze I/O's before taking the snapshot, or any way to  ensure  the data consistency.

We are using NFS based backup media.

vcs freeze service group

I need a solution

hi,

I am new here.

I like to know if i must to freeze a service group on a node from vcs if:
-i use vxrecover to resync mirror plex or raid5
-i add or remove disk into or from a dg.
- i extend a volume.

-any other operation within diskgroup that not requires dg import or export.

could i use the above and fsadm online with users?tnx a lot.

Backup exec 2015 console hangs when trying to browse ndmp server

I need a solution

I am using backup exec 2015 (version 14.2) to backup an ndmp server. 

I could add the server properly using trusted connection. However when I try to browse for the shares to backup , the backup exec console hangs.

I am using windows 2012 R2 to run backup exec.

I need a solution

I've taken over the support of a windows server with Backup Exec 2012

I need to create a server recovery disk

When I go to create I only have 2 options to specify a location

1. from previous location

2. existing .iso image

I need to create a new one, but there is no option to start over again

I cannot access a previous disk or image

please help

Message d'erreur sur FileConnect : "Le numéro de série que vous avez saisi nexiste pas dans FileConnect."

J'aimerai télécharger agent backup exec 2012 pour linux

Est-ce que quelqu'un peut m'aider

Hallo,

ich habe derzeit Symantec Backup Exec 2012 im Einsatz.

Symantec läuft auf einem Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Server.

Per iSCSI sind zwei QNAP NAS angebunden, auf denen die Backupsätze gelagert werden.

Rein technisch hat das Symantec Backup Exec 2012 bis vor 4 Wochen hervorragend funktioniert.

Aber seit dem, das war auch vorher öfters der Fall hat sich aber meist schnell wieder von selbst gelöst, ist es mir nicht mehr möglich eine Wiederherstellung durchzuführen.

Ich bekomme immer folgende Meldung:

"Restore Job konnte nicht erstellt werden. Unbekannter Grund: {0}."

Hat einer von euch diese Meldung bereits gehabt und weiß was das sein könnte?

Neustart des Servers und der Dienste habe ich bereits vorgenommen und Symantec Backup Exec 2012 ist auch auf dem neuesten Stand.

Sollten noch weitere Informationen benötigt werden, versuche ich diese gerne bereitzustellen.

netbackup SLP secondary operation suspended

I have an SLP whose secondary operation is deactivated for last 12 months.

Now we want to activate the secondary operation because images are not getting expired which are going on this SLP.

but my concern is when i will activate this SLP secondary operation,then multiple/thousands of duplication job will run which were in suspended state.

What i can do to prevent not a single duplication job being run while activating the secondary operation?

I need a solution

Hello,

Can some please help me understand how to monitor if i have burned all my TB's backing up my source data that is protected using Symantec Netbackup 7.6 Complete Edition.

Example:-

I have Netbackup 7.6 with authoriry of 15TB. How can i check what amount of data i have protected?

Also, if i compress data using some tools and then backup using Netbackup. What will be my source data? the compressed one or the original one ( for front end TeraByte Licensing).

Please Advise.

Migrating Netbackup from Solaris to Linux

Hello,

I am relatively new to the Netbackup world and I am working on migrating our Netbackup infra from Solaris (v10) to Linux (RHEL7). We were running Netbackup v7.6.0.2 before and I upgraded it to the latest version v7.7.3.

I had few questions before I proceed with the migration. I looked around for answers probably couldn’t find the exact answers for the below questions (or probably I didn’t search enough L).

We have 90TB of JBODs available to our media server (for staging the data written to tapes) and 14TB in our master server (for the catalog).

- Currently we use ZFS as a local filesystem and the data disks are in ZFS pool.

   So, in RHEL7 world what would be the recommended:

           - Local filesystem? (I believe XFS). I am thinking of creating local partitions in XFS.

           - Preferred software RAID (MDRAID or Megaraid or anything else)? I am planning to go with RAID 1.

- I will take a full Catalog backup before I start the migration and then attempt a restore after installing Netbackup 7.7.3 in Linux. Is that the right approach or is there a better way out for the migration?

Also, I believe this full catalog backup will hold a complete copy of my Policies/Storage Groups/Media pools/Tape Drive configuration etc. Right?

- [Little out of scope from Netbackup] After I migrate the servers to Linux, should I re-configure the tape drives as devices from the OS perspective?

Wir benutzen Backup Exec 15

ich suche ein Funktion die es in älteren Versionen von Backup Exec gab.

Und zwar möchte ich gerne meinen erstellten Auftrag als zusammenfassung ausdrucken.

(nicht der Ausdruck nach einem Backupjob ) sondern eine Art zusammenfassung was alles gesichert wird.

Gibt es da eine Möglichkeit?

Is there any way to hold specified tapes in robots, in such that will not marked like full tapes ?
Often we have full tapes to use in restores, but our Operators send all full tapes to  external storehouse.

Backup Exec 2014 Robotic Library setup/configuration

I need a solution

We have backup exec 2014 which was not configured properly when I came to the company,  we have a tape robotic library (quantum scalar 50) which holds 26 tapes. How do I configure backup exec storage to to use all the tapes as one big drive of storage space.  Backup exec does show the 26 tape slots, but I haven't been able to configure it successfully.  Any thoughts? Thanks.
