We have a Backup Exec 3600 R2 server running BE2012 and we get a RAID Web Console error popup saying that we need to replace the battery as it has failed.
Does anyone know of a part number for this or where we can purchase?
I tried calling Symantec but they wouldn't speak to me because we didn't renew our support contract.....
Last time I receive too much advertisings on my desktop. Every time I open my browser they appear. The most of them are from Ad by DNSUnlocker or Brought by DNS Unlocker. Is it a virus or I can clean my PC with some cleaning tool? I found an article about it on http://cookieverwijderen.nl/adware/dns-unlocker but I am not so stron in Netherlands language. Can you please give me an advice how to clean up my PC from advertisings.
we recently moved a computer with Procomm Plus on it to a new location in the office. since the move, the computer can't dial out and connect to other systems. I am not sure if it is the modem, or I have settings set up wrong. but when I dial a number out I can hear the modem dialing the number then it just sits and doesn't proceed/connect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
CleanWipe.exe doesn't uninstall SEP, i get a Fatal error message stating "could not copy file CleanWipeState.db

Does anybody know if I can upgrade a NetBackup Appliance 5230 configured as master server from 2.6.1 to 2.7.1? Or if I can have a NetBackup Appliance 5230 configured as master server with version 2.7.1? I try to find the information in SORT, but I don't realle understand if a 5230 master server can have 2.7.1 or not:
"NetBackup 5200 Series Appliances running 2.x or later can be used as back-level media servers in a NetBackup 7.7.x configuration. NetBackup Appliance and NetBackup versions will resynchronize in future releases."
And... does anybody know if the new site of Veritas will have Veritas Connect forums?

I have configured a customised report in BE15 with the following fields selected. When we preview the report, it shows correct result as expected.
However, when we schedule the report to run at specific time (say the next day), the same report displays multiple row of the same bacup job with identical details. The correct/expected output is shown below as per "Preview" screen, as it should show 3 completed jobs :

I am running MS Hyper-V solution with 4 VMs on my vHost. I am using Backup Exec 2015 Hyper-V product for my backup solution. One of the VMs is a Lotus Domino 6.5 server. Each night I do a backup of the Domino server and select the complete C: drive. While performing a maintenance on the VM I accidently did a revert and lost 1 weeks worth of data. When I did the restore from backup I discovered that even though the backup was sucessful the files in the Lotus directory were being skipped and not written to the backup appliance. In a previous backup solution you needed to shutdown the nserver.exe application to release the Lotus file locks for the backup to be successful. I had forgotten this step. I modified the pre/post object to handle the shutdown and restart of the Lotus Domino server. The files were still being skipped. I tested the Windows Agent based backup - same results.
Solution - Create a backup of only the Domino VM using the Hyper-V backup and verify that GRT is selected and configured. In the setup of the backup job you cannot use the PRE/POST comand on the Domino VM because Backup Exec can't login and run commands on the VM. No additional software is required. Run the Backup and verify that the files are in the backup sets on the backup appliance.

I went through a couple of your on SEP and would really appreciate some help from your end. I am in the process of starting a new venture wherein i want to asses the benefits of SEP myself before i reach out to a vendor/reseller.
To start with basics can you help me with the below mentioned doubts i have:
1. Symantec Endpoint Protection is server based or individual system based product?
2. Is there a licensing guide which i can refer to and understand the various models of licensing SEP allows?
3. How exactly does the SEP work in an environment of a single server and multiple end machines?
Would really appreciate all the help i can get before i take the right decision.

As per advice i am at the following stage:
I ran a catalog backup to external USB on the old environment.
On the New VM i built as the same host name - i installed the same software (NBU 6.5.5) to the same location.
I then added a disk of the same drive letter as the external USB and copied over the catalog files and DR recovery file.
I then went through the Catalog recovery wizard and it completed successfully.
Now under db\images on the new server i have all my old servers now under folders.
As you said Marianne - is was hoping to follow your instructions by "This will enable you to browse for backups, preview required media, followed by import of relevant media on media server in new environment"
However when i go into the backup archive and restore window, edit client list to an old server, it always comes back with "does not contain any backups for client xxx using policy xxx as requested.
So i cannot select a server / folder and preview media to run an import of that tape in my current environment.
Am i missing a step?

We're running 2 master servers:
Master1 runs on an AIX box with Netbackup 7.1 and a catalog size of 500GB,
Master2 is a 5230 Appliance running on RHEL with Netbackup version 7.5 and catalog size of 200GB.
I am planning to upgrade Master1 to version 7.7 and change Master2 to a Media Server on Master1. What can I do to the catalog of Master2 so that its data can be seen after migration? Merging of catalog takes a long time and was looking for quicker alternatives. Is it possible to just import disks from the 5230 after it is introduced to Master1?

Could you please tell me how does Brightmail Messaging Gateway licensing work?
A. If i have 5000 users who send and receive mails using the messaging gateway, do i need 5000 Symantec Messaging Gateway licenses?
B. Does it depend on mailboxes or users? If mailboxes does it consider active mailboxes or inactive mailboxes aswell?
C. Does the Symantec Messaging Gateway have to deployed on a server through which the mails will be routed or is it supposed to be deployed on the end user machines, through which the mails are sent?
D. If a user has three mailboxes, does it require the user to have one symantec messaging gateway licenses or three messaging gateway licenses?

If I configure the columns layout to anything (example media status from hide to show) it seems to work until the screen refreshes - when everything goes back to the default settings.
Any one stumble across this before?

I have created a policy and the schedule type is calender and the window is opened for 24 hours for the whole week and the start time of the policy is 10AM . Eventhough start time of the policy is 10AM backup is triggering at 00:00. Is it due to backup window is opened for 24 hours
For another policy schedule type is calender and the window is opened for 17 hours from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the whole week and the start time of the policy is 10AM . Eventhough start time of the policy is 10AM backup is triggering at 10 AM. In the first case why the backup is triggering at 00:00 eventhough scheduled at 10 AM.

Hello everyone
I am writting you because I need help in order to delete "old" tapes wich appears in the Symantec Netbackup Media screen.
I cannot delete these lines and I get the following error message: "cannot delete assigned volume - cannot delete assigned media".
For example when I select a line with "NONE" in the "ROBOT" column, right-click and press "Delete", then press "OK" to confirm and finally I get the error message (while the volume is not anymore into the Library).
Could someone help this with this ?
